Movement & Connection
Warp Drive Yoga is built on a simple premise: yoga is a profound practice for personal growth and community connection, best experienced in the open air.
Why Warp Drive Yoga Exists
After years of deep immersion in traditional Ashtanga yoga, I realized something important: many athletes, climbers, and regular people were being held back by strict hierarchies and indoor environments. Warp Drive Yoga was created to take this incredible system outside. By practicing by the water at Quivira Jetty, we strip away the intimidation factor and focus purely on what matters: the work, the breath, and the community.
The Lineage
My foundational training and deep love for Ashtanga comes from studying under Lisa Schrempp at Authentic Yoga Scottsdale. Lisa learned directly from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the legendary teacher who popularized Ashtanga globally after studying under the "father of modern yoga," T. Krishnamacharya.
While Ashtanga is the root, my teaching incorporates the Rocket Yoga system. Developed by Larry Schultz (another student of Pattabhi Jois), Rocket breaks the rigid sequences of traditional Ashtanga open—allowing practitioners to access advanced inversions, intense mobility work, and profound strength without waiting years for a teacher's permission. We bring that same joyful, athletic rigor to our coastal practice grounds in San Diego.
